EAI Community and Innovation services

EAI Portals will actively support the innovation cycle and to support SIBs activities through added value services with the purpose of supporting EAI Members in the achievements of their goals and enabling them to support EAI activities –and generate revenues out of this – by becoming service providers to the EAI Members and the EAI Community.

EAI portals framework builds on top of two main entry points: EAI community and EAI innovation services.

EAI Community services

This entry point provides support for Web community building around SIBsand SIB Summits. One the one hand these services have the purpose toenable researchers, professionals, authorities and financiers to discuss about innovative technologies in specific sectors (covered by SIBs) , to access and publish news, articles, videos, white papers and other materials leveraging on Web 2.0 social features. Valuable premium contents such as Technology trend reports, and Webminars, are reserved to EAI members. On the other hand these services aim at supporting the SIBs Board Members in their tasks with collaborative and organizational tools to support SIBs Board Members, for example in the organization of Summits and SIB related conference organization. Thus EAI Community services are: the glue between the open community, the EAI members and the SIB boards, enabling the community to steer, with their “social” wisdom, the SIBs activities; the link between the yearly summits and the online community, through the publishing of material collected during Summits and through the discussion on their organizations.

EAI Innovation services

To support and boost the innovation cycle, EAI aims at providing a Web 2.0 service marketplace where EAI members can access different services and bundle them together to fit their needs. These services are meant to support specific phases of the Innovation Cycle and allow entrepreneurs to access to a community of specialists to achieve their goals. For example, researchers and SMEs are often facing problem when they take their product to the market because of lack of recognition by standardization bodies. Thus a pre-standardization service that enables the different interested party to early meet and discuss about common standard for a specific issue during the early stages of the prototypal work will effectively later on boost the adoption of the final product and the acceptance by standardization bodies. Another valuable example of service is the evaluation of technologies both from the technology provider perspective that from the technology adopter. It is crucial to have an independent evaluation of products so that adopters can trustworthily make a choice between different solutions. By making accessible such services through a unique access point EAI will facilitate their usage and combination enlarging the outreach of services. Thus EAI members will not only benefit by having access to such services, but also by providing their services through EAI.
