The Innovation Cycle

The Innovation Cycle is a portfolio of managed services and activities in support of EAI mission. It defines the sustainability model of EAI and a social model of interaction between participants as well as between service users and providers. The Innovation Cycle is composed of the six segments of representing the EAI vision of activities perceived as fundamental to Europe’s innovation based competitiveness.

The Innovation Cycle participative model is based on a combination of value services provided by EAI’s members, crowd-sourcing idea development supported by EAI Summits and Portals and collaborative interactions through participation to the SIBs.
These three types of services and activities targeting open innovation are reflected in the Innovation Cycle:

  • Value services offered by EAI member organizations. Proposals for such services are evaluated in terms of quality and relevance by the EAI community administration. Service offers that meet the highest professional standards will then be licensed by and promoted to the EAI community.
  • SIB crowd-sourcing idea generation and dissemination. EAI provides its participants with a series of activities and services organis ed in the six segments of the Innovation Cycle. Dissemination is supported through virtual interaction over the SIB Portals and through face to face interaction during EAI Summits. The intellectual products of SIB participants benefit from exposure, expert evaluation and recognition in the form of online and printed publication as well as physical presentation during the Summits.
  • Cooperative Interaction of EAI community. This service type acts as a hub for all information related to innovation in Europe falling into the Innovation Cycle segments and into the technical area scope of the SIBs. Volunteer community moderated contributions include all “innovation news and ideas fit to disseminate”. They serve the distribution of knowledge and community building. EAI will provide fora on emerging technology or products, discussion on societal trends, blogging and networking.
